Microsoft Teams Adds Meeting Recaps to Help You Stay in the Loop

Never miss a meeting again with recaps that feature recordings, transcripts, notes, and more. Announced last year, Microsoft is rolling it out to Teams accounts now.

In a world where we’re always “jumping on a quick call,” you’re bound to miss a few virtual chats. We can’t be everywhere at once, and that’s where a new feature for Microsoft Teams comes in.

Meeting recaps will let you get caught up on a meeting you missed or revisit what was discussed. As Windows Latest reports, Microsoft announced the feature last year, and it’s now rolling out to some users, with the full rollout expected by the end of February.

Recaps include chat message history, notes, recordings, and transcripts, if available. “Meeting recap will help teams stay on track and keep their work moving forward after the meeting is over,” Microsoft says.

Microsoft Teams has been stepping up its game over the last year to woo Zoom and Google Meet users. Together mode, for example, places video meeting participants in the same virtual room, while Dynamic mode highlights the speaker window and prioritizes participants who are sharing video. Video filters let users adjust lighting and live emoji reactions and messages appear over your video as chat bubbles. And don’t forget those custom backgrounds.

Also coming up in February: custom layouts, ZDNet reports. “Presenters will be able to customize how content shows up for meeting participants [and] easily direct their audiences’ attention through hand gestures and facial cues, without making the viewer choose between the speaker and the content,” Microsoft says
